For many people, Spotify has long been a part of everyday life. Music, podcasts, and audiobooks are available anytime, playlists can be easily saved, and new content is automatically recommended. With Spotify Premium, the experience is even better, as there are no ads, music can be downloaded for offline listening, and you can skip tracks freely.
However, the standard monthly price isn’t exactly cheap—especially if you use multiple streaming services at the same time. That’s why many people are looking for the easiest possible ways to get Spotify Premium at a lower price.
In this article, I’ll show you a few ways to save money on Spotify. These aren’t complicated tricks, but practical solutions that are easy to implement in your daily life. Which option works best for you depends on whether you want the most convenience, are looking for the lowest price, or want to share Spotify with others.
First things first: Using Spotify via a VPN is no longer a bargain

For a long time, it was possible to subscribe to Spotify at a low cost using a VPN and foreign Spotify gift cards. However, this method is now hardly attractive anymore. Spotify gift cards for countries like India are currently absurdly expensive on marketplaces—although Spotify officially offers the annual plan in India for 1,999 rupees, corresponding 12-month codes are sometimes listed by third-party sellers for around 145 euros or even over 170 euros. Egyptian and Argentine Spotify codes are currently completely sold out.
And even if you manage to get a cheap Spotify gift card and somehow activate a discounted subscription while abroad, the joy is usually short-lived. In my experience, these accounts are often terminated after just a few days or weeks. I myself have had two accounts terminated recently—one through Argentina and one through India.
This method is therefore no longer a reliable money-saving tip. Although it is still mentioned as a money-saving tip on some websites, blogs, or forums, in practice these are outdated posts.
Which methods will still work in 2026?
I’ve really searched high and low for methods that actually work, read countless posts, reviewed old guides, and tried out a lot of things myself. Right now, there are basically only two ways left to use Spotify more affordably:
- Top-up services (via GamsGo, €2/month)
- Account sharing (set it up yourself or pay ~€5 per month through Sharesub)
Option 1: Get Spotify Premium at a lower price using a top-up service

One of the easiest ways to get Spotify Premium at a lower price is through top-up services. With these services, your existing Spotify account is directly upgraded to Premium. This means you keep your account, your playlists, your saved music, and your settings.
This is particularly easy to do, for example, through GamsGo. There, you currently pay only about 2 euros per month for Spotify Premium. After purchasing, you’ll receive instructions on how to activate it.
I’ve already topped up my account three times using this method. The advantage is that you don’t have to deal with VPNs, foreign payment methods, etc. In addition to GamsGo, there are other options available, such as on platforms like G2A. However, people usually buy new accounts there. I personally haven’t had any experience with that yet. Anyone using such services should therefore always pay close attention to reviews, duration, terms and conditions, and any potential restrictions.

For me, the top-up service is currently the most convenient option for using Spotify Premium at a lower cost. You save significantly compared to the regular monthly price, but you can still use your Spotify account as usual and don’t have to worry about a thing.
Option 2: Save money on Spotify by sharing an account

Another way to use Spotify Premium at a lower cost is through what’s known as account sharing. This involves several people splitting the cost of a Spotify subscription. The easiest way to do this is to team up with friends, acquaintances, or family members and split the cost fairly.
The advantage is obvious: the more people who sign up, the cheaper Spotify Premium becomes per person. However, it’s important to clarify in advance who will manage the subscription, how payments will be made, and what happens if someone decides to leave.
If you can’t find anyone in your circle, you can use platforms like Sharesub instead. There, users can offer open spots in existing subscriptions or join a shared subscription themselves. This makes account sharing much easier, since you don’t have to search for suitable co-users yourself.

Currently, it costs just under 4.99 euros via Sharesub to be part of a Spotify Premium Family subscription. However, it’s important to take a closer look, as prices, contract terms, ratings, and potential restrictions may vary depending on the offer.
